1/22/18 - Families Can Be Together Forever

WE HAD A SEALING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! About 6 months ago we baptized a little girl whose parents where inactive. We helped them get back into it and this week we were able to go to Lima and to the temple for their sealing. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!! Families can be together forever and man, it's the best thing in the whole world. I just love salvation - it just makes me so happy. I didn't want to leave the temple. Man, did I take the temple for granted living in Salt Lake. It's about 5 hours to go to the temple here and at home I lived within 15 minutes. It's crazy how not having something really puts things into perspective.

We've had a rough time with our other investigators. The aunt of familia Vargas came and just destroyed it all. It's so hard when you KNOW its going to help them and strengthen their family and people just want to blow it all up. It's okay, I'm learning more about patience than ever before. I can't even imagine how the Savior felt, a perfect person living in such an imperfect world.

I love this mission. I love President Stauffer. I love this church. I love Peru. Thanks to everyone who helped get me here!!

Love,
Elder Nielsen

1/15/18 - A Special Place in Heaven

This week was really good. We had transfers but no one in our area went anywhere. We are working hard and are seeing the results. I'm still with Elder Allegre and honesty it's so great. I love him man. I'm learning a lot from him and how important it is to be united and just love the people.

Moisés is having some trouble - please pray for him. His family is just so hard, but he is coming to church and everything else along with it which is a great sign. He had a stroke and can't read or write, but he just loves the Lord. I'm 100 percent positive that God has a special place in heaven for the little old people from the mountains here that can't read or write, don't even speak Spanish very well but LOVE the Lord. I love the faith of these good people.

Please pray for Jefferson and Cielo Vargas and Moises Neito. Thanks for everything!

Love,
Elder Nielsen

1/8/18 - I Love This Gospel!

This week was great! We are working hard and we are seeing a lot of good stuff happen in our area. We are teaching and helping a family who aren't married but their son is on a mission in Chile. We have to marry them to baptize them and for the last 25 years they have said that marriage means nothing - it's just a piece of paper and they were never going to do it. We taught them the plan of salvation and the spirit testified that they need to be an eternal family, they need to follow God. They are starting the process and they'll be married in the first part of next month! I love this gospel! I love helping people. Man it's just the best.

Elder Stodmeister and I played 1 on 1 and we played without shoes. I think my toes are going to fall off from the blisters hahahaha

It's my brother's birthday on the 10th - please give him a big ole hug or kiss! He's 18! I love you Josh!

I love this country. Our ward is the best - all the members love us. Please please pray for Moises Nieto, he is going to be baptized this week. My first day in Huaura we visited a less active named Juan Carlos. He was baptized in Argentina and he fell away and now is covered in tattoos and is really lost. We are helping him and found out his dad is not a member. He is so sweet - he can't read or write, grew up an orphan, and had a stroke and can't really walk very well but i love him man. His friends are just the worst and his wife doesn't want him to be baptized but he comes to church every week alone and always asks us if we can come over. The people of Peru are just the best. I love this church! I love this gospel! I love this mission! I love my SAVIOR!

1/1/18 - Pics of the Week

The gingerbread house that Elder Nielsen and friends made at the mission Christmas party.

Feliz Navidad! Mission Christmas party.

1/1/18 - Start Over and Start New

Wow Christmas came and went!! I hope you all had a great New Years! I love the opportunity to start over and start new. I invite you all to read this talk, https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/jeffrey-r-holland_remember-lots-wife/ its incredible!!! I spoke in church, again - perks of having only 20 worthy members hahaha and I talked a lot about this. This time of year is when we need to search for more Christ, fix the things and habits we are doing bad and work harder to be better.  I'm excited for things to come and I invite all of you to write down things you want to do better and change them!!

We have a missionary in my ward who is serving in Chile. We are going to marry his parents and then baptize them, then they can get sealed!!! Please pray for family Bonatti!!!! They are the best.

It's getting hot here - it's crazy to see snow in Utah. We had a Christmas party for the whole mission. It was great. (President is going to be a Seventy some day, you can count on it. - he's so amazing.) We made gingerbread houses and I think my group's house won. I sent a picture so you can see it. I love you all and I love this country with all of my heart!
